Happy 2015

January 4, 2015

Happy New Year!

It has been quite a busy couple of months, and both Jilly and I have been MAJOR slackers when it comes to posting about our life’s happenings. Really there isn’t that much going on. We’ve both been working a ton and trying to work out before the holiday set in. We were really going stir-crazy in Colorado, so our New Years trip to Arizona was just the thing we needed!

Shelf Road 2014

November 7, 2014
November 7, 2014

Jilly at shelfMan o Man it has been quite a crazy fall this year. We have been slowly and surely getting out to experience as much Colorado Climbing as possible before winter is officially upon us! We have spent much of the fall actually up in Boulder Canyon, at this place called Eagle Rock. We post a lot about that in the “You’re Not Hardcore” series. Jilly has been working on a great 5.12A project that she has almost mastered and I have attempted a very hard 5.13A project.

So with all of this Boulder climbing, we decided we wanted to get at least one more camping hoorah out of the van before its too cold to be enjoyable. We decided that Shelf Road would be the perfect destination. It is located about 3 hours south of Boulder, about 50 miles outside of Colorado Springs in a tiny town called Canon City.

You’re Not Hardcore Unless…YOU PUT IN THE TIME.

October 22, 2014
October 22, 2014

I have been thinking about some interesting thoughts/idea’s/topics to write about lately, specifically for my “you’re not hardcore” series of posts (this is not as easy as it seems FYI for all your non-bloggers…to always come up with new ideas to write about). Originally, I thought I might write, in great detail, about WHAT my workouts entail (reps/sets/workouts/just what the hell do I do?). Whenever I mention that I spend 3/4 hours a day with this ‘training,” thing, people always wonder how I spend that much time and the answer to that is it’s easier then you might think.

BB&B Rhode Island

October 2, 2014
October 2, 2014

What’s BB&B stand for you ask? Why bed and breakfast and boat show that we just attended (3 weeks ago) via Newport Rhode Island! We have been so busy since we got back that only now have we managed to put up all the wonderful photos and share the adventure with you, our avid readers (all 3 of you!).

We actually planned this trip over 9 months ago when we were sailing in Annapolis, MD. I have been so curious to go to a boat show since we started sailing, and learned that the Newport, RI show is the most famous one of all. So we bought our tickets almost a year in advance (since it fills up fast), and made a little vacation out of it.

Colorado Photo Safari

September 21, 2014
September 21, 2014

Jake and I have always wanted to do some select trips in and around Colorado that we never got around to doing since we moved here 10 years ago. So we decided that we were going to take several days and make a road trip out of it. In true Jake and Jill fashion we had to give the trip a theme, and that’s when Colorado Photo Safari was born.

The goal on our trip was to visit the Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, Garden of the Gods and Cave of the Winds. Since I got my new awesome camera we thought there was no better time to learn how to use it while visiting these various Colorado hot spots.

Blandford/Challis RV Adventure Accross America (Yellowstone NP, WY), PART 2

August 23, 2014
August 23, 2014

Saturday, July 26, 2014: We’ve Arrived!

beautiful dayOur first night in the RV went very well. Everyone was properly dressed and warm (even Jill’s mom!), but then we had to wake up and it was REALLY cold. Our first morning was by far the coldest morning we had as the temp was hovering in the mid-30’s. Our battery bank was too low to just turn on the heat and the the campground had rules about running generators or starting your car before 8am. So, we had to tough it out, which was easier for some of us than others. Mugs of hot coffee were poured, many items of clothing were put on and a delicious homemade pancake breakfast was prepared. Jilly slept in latest but perked up as soon as the food was finished (I have a hunch she was already awake and just waiting for the opportune time to come down so she wouldn’t have to help – good plan Jilly). We had a very nice and easy breakfast which warmed our bellies and before we knew it we were ready to head out to explore Yellowstone.
