Blandford/Challis RV Adventure Accross America (Yellowstone NP, WY), PART 1

August 22, 2014
August 22, 2014

Our trusty RVFor several years, Jill and I have talked about doing an RV trip. Being the avid campers that we are / were, we have always dreamt of AC/heat, unlimited electricity, refrigeration and freezer power, and of course a roof over our heads while out in nature! We were casually chatting about doing a trip ‘somewhere’ like this, if you know Jill and I then you know there is ALWAYS a trip being planned and an adventure to be had. Our conversation was overhead by various family members and in no time the idea was formed. Jill’s ‘non-camping’ parents were immediately onboard for the idea. We have no recollection of who suggested Yellowstone, but this was the destination that was settled upon for said RV adventure. Sure enough, within a few days the parentals booked their flights to Denver, the camping spots were reserved (which has to be done at least 6 months in advance because Yellowstone books quickly) and the adventure was born.

Goooooooood Moooorning Boulder Rez!

August 14, 2014
August 14, 2014

sun and cloudsIt has been awhile since we have gone sailing due to the frequency of afternoon thunderstorms and the reservoir being closed for the past 2 weekends for Ironman races. But this morning, we woke up early with the intention of reembarking on the magical water-filled world known as Boulder Rez, for one of the last sailing outings with our SV Bosco. We chose to go in the morning due to afternoon thunderstorms (which did end up coming in), and to have a nice pre-work morning outside.

Climbing…Climb On

August 10, 2014
August 10, 2014

Eagle RockWe were excited to go climbing today at our favorite local crag, “Eagle Rock” in Boulder Canyon. We decided to sleep in a bit this morning; I woke up at 6:30AM (last week I was up by 4:30AM, so it felt like sleeping in). Jill slept a bit longer while I made coffee and our now legendary breakfast smoothies chalked full of goodness. After gulping down, we hit the road by 8:00AM for our 20 minute commute up the canyon. Living in Boulder is great for this sort of thing.

Sometimes things just don’t work out

August 8, 2014
August 8, 2014

I promptly left work at 1:45 pm, which is very early, even for me. The plan was to race home: Pack the car with small mountain of climbing gear staged in the living room, meet our Home Depot Chica at 2:30 for a bathroom remodel project, swing by A to Z Kitchen to talk about getting new cabinet doors, then race up Boulder Canyon and start working my project and for Jill to start working her project for as long as we could stay…THEN…meet up with some out of town friends for drinks and maybe dinner.

You’re Not Hardcore Unless You live Hardcore: De-Lux Hot Dog Night

August 6, 2014
August 6, 2014

ingredientsI have been a total slacker on writing posts about training and climbing. The truth of it is that its not particularly interesting to write about (or for our vapid readers, read about).

So I will just say that we’ve been training super hard and tomorrow we are putting a top rope on a potential assent of a 5.13a “Barely Eagle” at our favorite crag in Boulder Canyon, Eagle Rock. Although these plans may change as we have some friends visiting from Chicago and if we take them climbing it will be someplace super easy like the Sport Park (where we take all newbies to climb).

2 Parter: Feng Shui Slumber Party

PART 1: FENG SHUI

Today we decided to take another step towards our goal by going through and getting rid of anything we don’t really use or need anymore. It started simple enough with the front closet, but quickly moved into all of our closets, drawers and storage spaces. Its pretty easy to get rid of things like shoes and clothes that you don’t wear or hats that have long gone out of fashion and your tastes. These things we piled up for a goodwill donation.
