Adventure Stir Crazy, so I am growing my beard

Man-o-man, I feel like we (or at least me, Jake) are/am getting a little stir crazy in old Boulder, CO. For one, it’s been about 2 months since our last big trip (Disney) and while we have done little jaunts to-and-fro, we haven’t had a proper adventure in some time. We haven’t gotten outside to climb, which we generally do in the afternoons…or sail…which we generally do in the afternoons. All because daily afternoon rain/thunder storms have been plaguing the countryside for the past few months.

An American Hero

You’re Not Hardcore Unless You Never Give Up

We are about 12 months into our never-ending training regime to climb the pesky 5.13 grade, with no end in sight! We have made progress still, but slow and steadily. Mondays and Tuesdays are reserved for endurance training, while Thursdays and Saturdays are power. Initially we would sort of kill ourselves on Mondays leaving us pretty trashed on Tuesdays, thus leaving workouts lackluster and less successful. So we discovered that instead of treating these days as two individual sessions, we would gel them into one training evolution period.

Weekend Getaway-Dillon, CO

I have to preface that building the bed in the back of our van was the BEST idea of 2014. It has become a vital tool for us to harness our ‘Jake and Jill spirit for adventure’ and has motivated us to start ticking off the local Colorado hot-spots that are NOT climbing related. After a few trips to Moab, UT, we really wanted to go someplace closer to home. This weekend, we went to Dillon, CO; It couldn’t have done a better job at satisfying our need for fun.

Epic Sailing Adventure-Capsized

June 10, 2014

Today was just like any other…woke up to a beautiful sun-filled morning. Rode my bike to work and enjoyed a mellow workday. Decided on the ride home that we should go for a sail to round out this “typical” Boulder Monday. So, we headed over to the Boulder Reservoir in pretty much perfect sail conditions (partly cloudy, winds around 5-10MPH).

Southern Comfort Friday-Vegan Style

Well hello all of you people out in Internet Land. Today is Friday, normally a ‘rest day’ for us (anything that is not a climbing day is called a rest day in our book). We decided that we’d try to go for an evening sail, but unfortunately the weather was not on our side. We knew it was going to rain and we love rain/wind, but thunder and lightening means no-go for sailing…so we decided to cook up our own storm instead!
