Bosco Blandford-Challis – In Loving Memory

February 3, 2011

Knowing
If I had known that on that day our time was near the end
I would have done things differently, my forever best friend.
I would have stayed right next to you deep into the night
but I thought I’d see you in the early morning light.

And so I said “Good night” to you as I walked in through the door
never thinking of the time when I’d see you no more.
But if I had known that on that day our time was at the end
I would have done things so differently, my forever best friend.

I love you so much monkey and will miss you forever.

Honeymoon In Kauai, HI

June 1, 2010

28091_396619058004_5543047_nSo, we are back from the most beautiful place…EVER. Kauai, HI was the perfect spot to celebrate our honeymoon. We are avid believers that everyone who gets married should take a honeymoon, even if it is only for a long weekend. Its important to have that time with your significant other to celebrate the occasion together. Its also so much fun and a great bonding experience for any couple in any relationship.

To continue on from the last post, the wedding was fabulous, as was the food. Once the fun was over, we had one day to “recover” before we had to truck off to Hawaii. We decided that it would be easier to fly directly from Portland, than flying back home to Denver and back again (and it was).

Ring-A-Ding-Dong

May 31, 2010
May 31, 2010

Yay! we’re married. We just got back from our glorious 2 week wedding/honeymoon celebration. We started in Portland, OR for one week (where 20 of our close family and friends joined us) to celebrate the VooDoo Donut version of our “holy matrimony”! Then we travelled all the way to Kauai, HI for a 1 week honeymoon, in probably the most gorgeous place on the planet (as far as we know).

First, lets talk about the wedding. It was an intimate affair, of 20 family members (most of them mine) and friends. We stayed at the Hilton right downtown Portland, and spent the first few days getting acquainted with the city, as Jake and I have never been there before now. We wanted to check out the venue (VooDoo 2) and do a tour of some of the local hot-spots. We also got to visit a musician-friend of ours (Wizard Boots) and watch them play a show at a Dive Bar in the city…which was a ton of fun!

5.12 Madness!

April 12, 2010
April 12, 2010

10So it has been quite awhile since I’ve posted anything online. To update we have been training all winter long, and it has been long and arduous to say the least. Climbing inside does help one focus, but it really isn’t nearly as exciting, peaceful, meditative or rewarding as climbing outside. With spring right around the bend, we have been lucky enough to find ourselves back outdoors. Today was a great day. We are nearing the end of our final training cycle, and feeling extra-strong. We figured today would be a great day to go outside and test our abilities. I am so happy to say that I successfully climbed my first 5.12. It was a line called Mercy Killing up in Boulder Canyon and it is rated 5.12a…its basically a very vertical face with a tiny crack following the path up to the top. The climb was a little bit soggy from the snowfall and rain over the last couple of days, but all in all it was a beautiful climb. I can’t wait to go back and do it again when the rock is completely dry! Jake is going to try to attempt his first 5.13 this summer, and hopefully we will have a lot more great things to report.
