Portland Finale: Day 3

We woke to a cloudy but bright day on our last day in Portland. We had planned to go to the zoo and then to the rose garden on our last day. It took us a little while to pack our stuff up (we made sure to pack really light so we could carry all of our stuff with us throughout the city), and then checked out of our hotel. We still had a few leftover donuts so we had those for breakfast and then decided to head to the zoo.

The zoo is located in Washington Park (which is further Southwest – quadrant 1 area and beyond), and it is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. There are the famous Rose and Japanese Gardens in this local as well, but we were there for the Zoo. The place was packed because they had a few new exhibits and a new “thrill ride” and being a holiday weekend, I guess it wasn’t surprising….but it was actually really cold. The zoo was really cool as zoos go, Jake and I love our zoo’s so we could say we know a good zoo….and this was a good zoo….although we would have liked to see more animals, it was still really fun.

The Fun Continues: Day 2

We woke up to an unusual sight; the sun in Portland! It was really hard pulling ourselves out of bed (even though it was around 10am before we even attempted to move). We decided that we were going to try to take it easy in the morning of our second day, since we booked an “eating and walking” tour for the afternoon. After a slow start, we made our way to the Flying Elephant, which is probably our favorite quick stop which has the yummiest and freshest foods that you could want, and such a variety! We got green chile enchiladas and mac and cheese (which sounds weird, but was a really great combination of pseudo-lunch food). We wanted to save our appetites for the tour later, so we tried to keep our eating to a minimum. And since the weather was super pretty, we walked around a new part of town, which we had never been to before.

Portland Adventures: Day 1

Happy 1 year Anniversary Jilly and Jakey! We are currently enjoying the delicious voodoo donuts in our amazing hotel overlooking the most beautiful city I’ve been to…Portland, OR.

We had a really long day Friday as we were in the music studio until 2am and had an 8am flight…although we did finish our last song off of the new album so that is awesome! We should have our album pressed and ready to go in the next two weeks! The airport was pretty effortless excursion, and the flight was even less-so. Nothing of note other than the flight attendant making Jake do a shot of scotch before we land, since he is a veteran of the Marine Corps (semper fi!). Oh and did I mention it was only 10AM…not a bad start to the trip.
