Rock and Rollin’
We played an awesome show on sunday (3/27) at the Lion’s Lair as “The Marco Polos” which is our offshoot “duo” of the Firebird 4000 Project, with guest drummer Matt Montemore (also part of FB4K). Just like any show at a danky dive bar, the Urinal Trough was filled with ice to keep down the smell and the stage was ever-creaking, threatening to break at any moment. The transient-filled bar got to enjoy a showcase of singer-songwriter performances from our friend’s “Matt & Emily,” Dave from Icarus Thump and Elyse Miller from Fort Collins…and of course the Marco Polos. Despite the poor turnout we had a really great night hanging out with our friends, playing music to each other and drinking free beer on a Sunday night.
We have another show (as FB4K) tomorrow at the Meadowlark (in Denver) which we are looking forward to, as we get to put on a rock performance and strut around in a somewhat more appealing part of town. Our friend’s Wizard Boots (from Portland) are going to be joining us and we are super excited to hang with them. They are starting their national tour in Denver, and we are looking forward to seeing their most excellent performance. As you may know, we got married in Portland last May, and we were privileged enough to see these guys in their native home. I’m sure it will be a night to remember.
This sunday we are playing at an old opera house in Longmont called the Dickens Opera House, which should be a really amazing experience. The setting is amazing and hopefully we will walk away with some hot band photos we can post all around the net for everyone to enjoy. Until then…we will keep on rockin’
